Dr. Hal Lewis

Hal Lewis, MD comes to Southern Illinois from St. Louis, MO. He completed his undergraduate studies from Washington University in St. Louis and went on to complete his medical degree from the University of Missouri. From there, he completed residency training from Barnes-Jewish Hospital in the division of Dermatology.

“One of the things that drew me to Carbondale is that I’m a midwestern kid at heart and I want to provide dermatologic care to an underserved community. What’s interesting about skin and dermatology is that the skin is a marker of internal health. So oftentimes, you can recognize certain diseases by their manifestations on the skin first. That’s why it’s so important for a dermatologist to be able to recognize certain things about a patient’s skin and extrapolate that into internal health.”
